HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I need a flat iron/straightener. I need advice on which one to buy. I was thinking of

Farouk CHI 1 Inch Ceramic Flat Hairstyling Iron

or

Farouk CHI GF1538 Turbo Regular 1 Inch Ceramic Flat Iron Hair Straightener

and someone suggested this one:

Solia Professional Ceramic Ion Flat Iron (1-1/4")

Or tell me a better one.

Help me or I shall hypnotize you with the future leaders of England

I use Jilbere de Paris Definition Series. It's around $50-60 at Sally's. I've gone through 2 or 3 straighteners before and this has to be the best one I've ever had. It heats up to 400+ degrees and it will flatten under 5 minutes.. and I have thick hair. I would recommend this straightener.

Okay, another question. Which is better, one that heats up to just one temperature or one that adjusts temp??

Do you spray on any heat protector before you straighten your hair? If so, what do you use?

Thank you so much for your help, hon!

This one adjusts. I goes from 1 to 25, 25 going up to like.. 480 something. It tells you which setting you should use for you hair type. My hair is naturally wavy/slightly curly, so I usually keep it at 20. But I'm always in a hurry so I use 25.

I never any spray in my hair, but my mom does. Her hair damages must easier though. I use shampoo that moisturizes my hair and I also use this conditioning serum like, once a week that keeps moisture in my hair.

I have a Conair Ceramic 2" that I picked up from Sally for about $25 a couple of years ago... that thing rocks, especially since you can adjust the heat setting. If it can straighten my thick-ass, nasty curly hair and make it look good, it can do anything.

And I lurve you and miss you!

I can't even imagine how long it must take you to straighten your thick hair!! It is by no means nasty, though. Unless you have just taken to avoiding showers...

Hun, in the summer heat it's nasty after an hour or so. But it only takes me about 15 or 20 minutes at most to get my hair straight... less if I've slept on it already.

It depends on the day... in the wintertime, it's almost always fine. In the summer, it's usually okay unless it's a -really- humid day or it's obviously going to rain.

I've heard from [info]madradhair that all of the CHI straighteners end up being not worth it after about a year/year and a half of use.
I hate my Conair. It's a curling iron/straightener so there could be the faulty-ness. The one I had before I left on and it got so hot the plates melted INTO the actual plastic.
I love Sharayah's straightener. I've been on her for like years on where she got it. Haha.

Ha ha! OMG the boys, thats funny. :P

Personally here is my opinion. I take good care of my hair and my little sister is my hair sytlist. She went through cosmotology school so she can get me all that kind of expensive shampoo and conditioner for half price for me. Im not able to buy it because I do have a lisence to. Yea I hate spending alot of money on beauty products I really do but what Im using now for my hair has made it amazing and looks so healthy after my hair was ruined from a young gal in a salon.

Anyways. When it comes to curling irons and flat irons I wont spend over $40 Yea I may sound like a cheap ass but I look at it this way. All the curling irons and hair straightners that I have had in my life all take a shit at one time or another. I fix it and then it only lasts maybe about a month or not even after that. So if I dont spend that much then I dont feel like Im out all that money, and I wont straighten or curl my hair every day either. So thats just me and my opinion

So I guess when you are trying to find one, pick one that will help lock in moisture to your hair and not fry it and leaving it looked damaged. ;)

Best of luck finding the right one for you!!! :)

I loved that little animation, lol. It makes me giggle seeing such straight aces so silly.

I am a bit worried putting out too much money on a iron, too. It seems everyone is warning me about them breaking before I truly get my cash worth out of it. What shampoo/conditioner do you use?

I use to have a conair ceramic straightner but thanks to my so called ex-roomate she somehow messed it up with leaving it on maxium heat way after she was finished using it. I had to get a new one.So recently my sister gave me a professional one. I am scared to use it since it is metal but considering my hair is dry it goes alright for me.Other wise I have a Ceramic one for general purpose and it is Conair. Any way I think the Jilbere de Paris sounds like a nice choice but you should always make sure your hair is moist when using an iron on hair. You would probably need to use a shampoo and conditioner strengthner.I've seen people torture their hair if they don't put something on before applying that heat. Best of luck and it is all up to you to what best fits!

So, do I blow dry it all and just leave it somewhat damp or do I do it wet?? This really helps knowing all this, so a huge thank you!!

You just have to have it a little moist. Not dripping wet.It also depends on your hair type. For me since I have dry wholly hair I only apply hair lotion that helps from any heat damage.

I think that the best straighteners are the ones with temperature regulator. Remember that hair is very sensitive to heat and any kind of artefact that uses it will attact its healthy. Most people say that ceramic irons are better but, who knows... anyway, every one of them make changes in your hair (regarding its healthy, again). As I was telling you, a straightener with regulator will let you manage the perfect temperature for your hair (it depends on how sensitive it is).

By the way, I am adding you ^_^. I think I did not remember who you were a months ago and deleted you from my f-list in my first cut *embarrassed*.

Kisses and good luck!
